Manuel Carizza smashes Gilliam Galan

Los Pumas secondrower Manuel Carizza, playing out of position in the backrow for Biarritz made a massive hit on Toulouse number 8, Gilliam Galan recently in a Top 14 Orange match. The hit took the overweight backrower by surprize as he was smahed to the ground hard and it also saw Carizza feel some pain himself but he got back to his feet and into position. Carizza won the battle by getting the better of the enormous Galan and Biarritz were awarded a penalty following a violation in the subsequent ruck from Toulouse. The tackle was a reminder to everybody of his abilities as he often does not have praise given to him due to the reputation of his fellow Argentine secondrower, Patricio Albacete.

This season has not seen Carizza receive as much game time for the Basque team as previous seasons and the club is reported to not be resigning him due in part to his guaranteed involvement with Los Pumas in The Rugby Championship. His destination remains unknown but one team rumoued to be in talks with him is Welsh region, The Scarlets. Should the rumours be true then Carizza would be a rare Puma playing his trade in Wales. Currently there are no Argentine players at all playing in Wales and a low number in total playing in the Rabo Direct Pro 12. The current season features only Argentine players in the Scottish and Italian sides in the Celtic-Italian League. One advantage for Carizza of playing for The Scarlets would be guaranteed participation in the Heineken Cup as Biarritz´ early season form means that the club will not qualify for the 2012-2013 competition and will instead feature in the Amlin Challenge Cup. Biarritz will take on the London Wasps in a Amlin Challenge Cup Quarter Final today with Carizza being named on the bench.
